Mechanical load induced hydrogen charging of retained austenite in quenching and partitioning (Q&P) steel

نویسندگان

چکیده

This work investigates the effect of a constant load on hydrogen diffusion through Q&P steel containing metastable retained austenite by combining electrochemical permeation and thermal desorption spectroscopy. Material samples are placed under different external loading conditions, ranging from 50% to 125% yield stress. The transients indicate that is delayed all stressed even at stresses in elastic regime, with delay increasing applied load. From spectroscopy performed same specimens after test, it appears tested show high temperature peak, which not present unloaded sample. Further differential scanning calorimetry analysis confirms peak related result effusion release due transformation austenite.

Mechanical Stabilisation of Retained Austenite in δ–TRIP Steel

Recent research suggests that extraordinary combinations of strength and ductility can be achieved in the so–called δ–TRIP steels, which contain ferrite, bainite and austenite. A part of the reason for the ductility of almost 40% elongation at a strength of some 900MPa, is believed to be the optimal stability of the austenite to plastic deformation. We demonstrate here that mechanical stabilisa...

Identification of Retained Austenite, Ferrite, Bainite and Martensite in the Microstructure of TRIP Steel

Transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) steels have a vast application in automotive industry because of theirhigh strength, high ductility and hence excellent energy absorption capacity. These characteristics of TRIPsteels are due to the existence of retained austenite in their microstructures in the ambient temperature, whichtransforms to the martensite phase during deforma...

تأثیر پارامترهای فرایند کوئنچ و پارتیشن‌بندی بر ریزساختار و کسر آستنیت باقی‌مانده

Certain amount of retained austenite can increase ductility of steels because of the TRIP phenomenon during plastic deformation. One method for achieving this is partitioning of carbon into austenite to stabilize it at room temperature. The quenching and partitioning (Q&P) heat treatment leads to a microstructure consisting of martensite and stabilized retained austenite between martensite plat...

Mechanical Stability of Retained Austenite in the Nanostructured, Carbide Free Bainitic Steels During Tensile Testing and Cold Rolling Process

Terms of service of the steels with retained austenite in the microstructure, is severely depended on the stability of austenite during the course of deformation. The present work aims to evaluate the mechanical stability of austenite in nanostructured, carbide free bainitic steels during tensile testing and cold rolling process. To achieve the microstructure with retained austenite, the steel ...

Site-specific atomic-scale characterisation of retained austenite in a strip cast TRIP steel

Knowledge of carbon content in retained austenite (RA) with different neighbouring phases is essential to understand the chemical stability of RA, which is useful for microstructure tuning of transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steels. The present study investigates different morphologies and chemical compositions of RA by correlating electron backscattering diffraction, transmission elect...
